Each column is one note: hue is its pitch class, lightness its pitch, from the palettecore pitch-colour helix. C2 falls first and the rain introduces all forty-eight notes in order before running free. The mapping is a designed convention (Newton and Scriabin disagreed about C); the audit of these exact colours is in output/digital_rain.json, and the vision toggle shows what it reports.
