Transcribe, code, and map your interview study entirely on your own computer. A coded, auditable qualitative analysis you can defend — and interviews that never leave your machine.

Your ethics approval says the interviews stay local, so cloud AI tools are off the table. Qualitative analysis software wants a subscription your project does not have. The coding backlog grows by ninety minutes for every hour of audio, and the honest workaround — coding less carefully — is the one a reviewer will notice.
| Corrected transcripts | local Whisper transcription, pseudonymized, a cleaning log for every change |
| A reviewed coding file | every AI suggestion accepted, edited, or rejected by you, with reasons |
| A disciplined codebook | definitions, inclusion and exclusion rules, anchor quotes, revision history |
| Themes with grounding | codes, quotes, participants, negative cases — signed by you |
| Tables and maps | code frequencies, code × participant matrix, co-occurrence network, an evidence map where every node is a live note |
| Draft scaffolds | methods and results drafts with the AI-disclosure paragraph already shaped |
| An audit trail | every script run with model and version, every decision dated |
Models suggest structure. You decide interpretation. Local AI transcribes, proposes codes with rationale and marked uncertainty, clusters, and argues against your themes on request. Not one of its words becomes analysis until you accept, edit, or reject it.
The second opinion is deliberately a second model — a different one than the coder, because agreement from the same reader is not a second opinion. Frequency charts carry the words "frequency is not importance" on the chart itself. The evidence map shows grounding, never a confidence score.
A complete fabricated demo study ships inside: three interviews and a focus group taken from error-ridden raw transcript to methods draft. The model's raw suggestions sit next to every human review decision and its reason, including two calls left honestly unresolved. Twenty minutes of reading and you know what every stage of your own study should look like.
No. The only network address in the scripts is localhost — your machine talking to itself. Setup downloads are the only fetches, and no research data is involved in them.
Whisper handles both, and about 100 more languages. For dialects and mixed-language interviews, expect to correct more — our own honest error-rate account is in the free transcription guide. The workflow assumes correction; that is the method, not a flaw.
It is an NVivo alternative for studies where the data was never allowed to reach a cloud tool anyway. It is a method-disciplined workflow, not a feature checklist, and it costs one payment instead of a yearly subscription.
Transcribe (you correct), suggest codes (you review every row), cluster codes into candidate groupings (you decide themes), argue against your themes (you weigh it), and draft scaffolds from your facts (you write the meaning). Every model run is logged with name and version.
Covered. The analysis scripts are open source (Apache-2.0) with a citable version, so you can include them in supplements and repositories freely. The vault ships a how-to-cite guide with ready methods sentences, software citations, and code/data availability statements a reviewer will accept.
If you only need transcription, the free guide is enough. If you also need coding, a codebook, audit trails, evidence maps, and drafts — QualiVahti Local packages the complete workflow.
